Metal Detectors, Fried Dodger Dogs Coming To Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dodger fans will face a host of new security measures - and several adventurous food offerings - as the team gets set to kick off the 2015 season.

Starting with the Freeway Series finale on April 4, fans will undergo a metal detector-enhanced screening process conducted using hand-held metal detection or walk-through magnetometers, according to team officials.

Bag checks will also be conducted, officials said, but guests will not be required to remove their belts, shoes, jackets, wallets, keys or coins before walking through the metal detector, said officials.

The procedures, which are the result of a recent study of best security practices along with Major League Baseball's partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, were used periodically at certain gates last season.

This year, however, all 30 MLB teams will institute the procedures, according to league officials.

However, not all changes at Dodger Stadium will be security-related: fans will also get a chance this season to gorge on a host of new food options, including a Lasorda's Meatball Marinara Cone and Fried Dodger Dogs.

For the more health-focused fan, concessions will also offer turkey burgers, veggie burgers, veggie dogs, veggie wraps and veggie pizza at several locations throughout the stadium.
