2 Suspects Sought After Allegedly Assaulting Santa Ana Teen Walking Home From School
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana police were seeking the public's help to identify two suspects wanted for allegedly sexual assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
The victim was reportedly walking home from Valley High School around 5:50 p.m. Monday when she was assaulted, according to a Santa Ana Police Department spokesperson.
Investigators say she was crossing a pedestrian bridge at 1600 West Saint Andrew Place when she was approached by a suspect riding a bicycle. The suspect stopped in front of the victim, grabbed her buttocks and groped her, police said.
A second suspect then approached the victim on foot and grabbed her from behind, holding the victim while the first suspect grabbed her leg under her skirt, according to authorities.
Police say the victim was able to fight the suspects before she was thrown to the ground. A female pedestrian walking nearby prompted the suspects to release her.
The men then fled east into a residential neighborhood.
Police describe the first suspect as a Hispanic male 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet eight inches to six feet tall, with a medium build, short spikey hair and a medium complexion. He was reportedly wearing a faded black long sleeve shirt, carried a dark green backpack and wore brown sandals. The suspect was riding an older blue and black mountain bicycle with an orange reflector under the seat, police said.
The second suspect was described as a 20 to 30-year-old male wearing a white short sleeve shirt with blue writing.
