Public's Help Sought In Search For Corona Sexual Assault Suspect

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are seeking the public's help in their search for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman Sunday in Corona.

Corona police officers say they were notified Monday morning that Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies were in contact with a 36-year-old woman who reported the assault.

According to a police spokesperson, the woman said she was walking eastbound on Magnolia Avenue or in the Home Gardens area Sunday evening when she was picked up by a white male adult, about 40, driving a white pickup.

"The female was driven around Riverside County for several hours and at some point was forced to perform a sexual act," a police spokesperson stated in a press release.

The victim contacted the Riverside Sheriff's Department after being dropped off in Norco, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Lt. Alan Lorton at (951) 736-2281.

Police say there is no evidence to support any link of the incident and three previous kidnappings and sexual assaults reported in the Corona, Eastvale and Norco areas.
