L.A. Is Hot, As The Summer Job Market Heats Up

In a city where so many job seekers have been left to pound shoe leather searching for opportunities, the selection and variety of available positions increase for the coming summer months. Summer is when tourists come to town and spend vacation dollars at our local venues and attractions. Summer concert halls are staffing up for the great performances throughout the many stages in town. LA has jobs to fill in all the service areas that deal with tourism, travel and entertainment.

The facts show that most of the visitors in Los Angeles are actually California residents from other areas of the state. Travel spending in 2014 generated $4.3 billion in local taxes and $5.2 billion in state taxes for California. Every visitor is coming from near and far to enjoy the variety of attractions and activities available in the diverse city of angels. While here, they'll need everything from hotels, coffee shops, nightclubs, concert halls, mechanics, and dry cleaners. The businesses all know it's time for hiring and training new staff.

It's estimated that 42.2 million tourists visited Los Angeles in 2013 setting a new record in our history. Every area of the city shows an increase in sales and activity brought on by tourist coming and spending dollars in our communities. In Los Angeles county, the beach city of Santa Monica vendors boast that 7.3 million visitors come to Santa Monica every year, spending 1.63 billion dollars on a variety of products and services. The economic opportunity creates over 12,000 jobs for local businesses and adds 42 million dollars in tax revenue to the city.

Even if it's time to go back to school and get a degree that may open new doors of opportunity, there's no time like the present to update the resume and start looking for the perfect part-time or full-time employment, because it's out there. Los Angeles employers are looking to fill thousands of openings in all sectors and they need as much help as they can get. The most important thing while looking for the right job is to maintain a positive mental attitude and know that the right position awaits you.
