Public's Help Sought In Search For Chatsworth Sexual Assault Suspect

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — Police are asking for the public's help in the search for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman walking in a Chatsworth neighborhood Friday night.

Police say the victim was  alone in the area of the 10000 block of Cozycroft Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when she was knocked to the ground and assaulted.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male.

Anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed suspicious activity is asked to contact Devonshire Sexual Assault Unit at (818) 832-0609 or the Devonshire Watch Commander at (818) 832-0633.

Police are meanwhile reminding pedestrians to stay aware of their surroundings, to refrain from wearing headphones or earbuds and to remain in well-lit, heavily traveled areas. They also recommend walking in groups or keeping in continuous contact with someone while advising them of your location.
