Man, 73, Booked On Suspicion Of Murder In 2012 Death Of Wife

PINION HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A 73-year-old man has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder in the 2012 death of his wife in Phelan.

Sigfredo Concepcion was arrested Friday at his Pinion Hills home and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. His bail set at $1 million.

Concepcion is accused in the shooting death of Linda Concepcion, 64, of Phelan, who was pronounced dead July 8, 2012.

As KCAL9's Crystal Cruz reports, the victim was found shot in her chicken coop just two days before her divorce was to be finalized and just after returning home from church.

"I have been going through hell for those three years," said the victim's daughter, Georgina Richardson, who just learned her stepfather was arrested. "It really made a big difference. It's just life-changing. I can't even explain it.

"You know, it was actually a sense of relief," Richardson said of the arrest. "I mean, I've been going through depression through this whole thing. Losing my mom so suddenly when her and I would talk hours at a time every day, 7 to 10 times a day."

Cruz reports that Richardson had suspicions her stepdad was somehow involved and says he sold the family home within weeks of her mother's death and moved to Pinion Hills.

"It's awesome. It's a really awesome feeling that my mom is finally going to have justice," she said.

Concepcion is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
