Man Wanted For Attempting To Kidnap 12-Year-Old Girl In Baldwin Lake

BALDWIN LAKE (CBSLA.com) — Deputies sought the public's help Friday to identify a suspect wanted in the attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl.

According to the Big Bear Sheriff's Station, deputies responded on Thursday to report of an attempted kidnapping that occurred in the area of Highway 18 near Third Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed an unknown adult man, who drove a black sedan, allegedly stopped the juvenile while she walked home from her bus stop after school on Wednesday.

When the man opened his car door to ask the victim where she was going, she ran to her home and he chased after her.

Police said the victim safely entered her home, which prompted the suspect to run back to his vehicle. He fled westbound on Highway 18, towards Big Bear City.

Detectives described the suspect as a white man in his mid 30s that has a thin build with a blond "faux-hawk" style haircut. He stands between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 tall, detectives added.

The victim told officials the suspect wore a jacket with a hood over his head during the incident.

During an area check, deputies were unable to locate a vehicle or any suspects that matched the reported description.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Big Bear Sheriff's Station at (909) 866-0100.
