Police Seek Help In Finding Man They Believe Groped Boy In Theater

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police seek the public's assistance in finding a man accused of groping a 15-year-old boy inside a movie theater.

The attack occurred about 7 p.m. Monday night at the Regency Theater in Huntington Beach in the 7800 block of Warner Avenue.

"It was an unusual occurrence, and one that we're concerned with," a Huntington Beach Police representative said.

Police say the boy was sitting next to his father in the theater when a man believed to be 45-50 sitting on the boy's other side reached over and grabbed the boy's crotch area.

"This is a $3 movie theater; there are plenty of open seats," moviegoer Shawn Carr said. "If that was my child, trust me, someone's going to get caught. I'm getting my hands on you. There's no way. That's disgusting."

Authorities say the boy's father ran after the man and chased him through a parking lot, but the man got away.

Police now seek the public's help in finding him.

"We would encourage anyone who has any information or who can identify this person to give us a call," the officer said.

The Huntington Beach Police can be reached at (714) 960-8843.
