Chino Hills Couple Captures Woman Believed To Be Burglarizing Home

CHINO HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A Chino Hills husband and wife are tackling crime — literally.

Authorities say the residents of a home in the 4100 block of Lugo Avenue caught a burglary suspect in their house by tackling her and subduing her until help arrived.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. March 12 as the man and woman were in the living room watching TV when the couple heard an object fall in the sunroom in the south part of their home, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

They walked to the room and found a female suspect in the process of burglarizing their home, authorities said.

The suspect was later identified as Linda Bugarin, 27, of Chino Hills, according to authorities.

One of the homeowners confronted Bugarin, at which point she attempted to flee before the homeowner tackled Bugarin to the floor and detained her while his wife called 911, authorities said.

When deputies arrived on scene and took Bugarin into custody, investigators discovered that she was on probation for burglary and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance, according to authorities.

Bugarin was subsequently arrested for burglary and a probation violation and booked in to West Valley Detention Center.

It was later determined that Bugarin had entered the home through an unlocked door, according to a release from the Sheriff's Department.

Neither of the victims were injured during the incident, authorities said.
