Ontario Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Annoyance

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Police announced the arrest of a 25-year-old man Monday who is accused of committing two separate cases of child annoyance in Ontario.

According to the Ontario Police Department, Angel Rodriguez, of Ontario, allegedly approached a female Ontario High School student around 6:45 a.m. on March 6, as she was on her way to school.

Officers explained Rodriguez quickly got out of his car, asked the student for directions, and offered her a ride. The student turned him down, however, Rodriguez remained persistent about driving her to school.

After he gave her his number, Rodriguez asked to look at the student's cell phone in hope of getting her number. Officers said the student held on to her phone and refused to let go.

Around 6:55 a.m., Rodriguez approached a second female student from Ontario High School, and blocked her path on the sidewalk with his car. Once again, he asked her for directions and insisted that she get in his car to drive her to school.

The student also refused to get in the car, and wouldn't give Rodriguez her phone number. In response, he followed her in his car to a street near the school, and then drove away.

A warrant was issued for Rodriguez's arrest, charging him with two counts of child annoying and molesting a victim under the age of 18-years-old.

He was subsequently arrested at his work on Friday, located off Garey Avenue.

Detectives described him as a Hispanic man that has brown eyes, dark brown wavy collar length hair, and a goatee. He stands 5-foot-6 tall, and weighs 170 pounds.

Authorities believe he was wearing athletic warm up clothing during the encounters, and may have been driving a four door blue-gray Nissan Versa when he approached the girls.

Police urged any additional victims that were approached by Rodriguez to contact the Ontario Police Department at (909) 395-2898.
