Suspected DUI Driver Bumps Police Cruiser Before Crashing Into Fire Hydrant In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man was taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence after bumping a police cruiser and crashing into a fire hydrant in Hollywood.

The driver reportedly hit the vehicle, attempted to flee the scene and ran into a pole and the hydrant around 5:25 a.m. at Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue, according to officials.

The man was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries and will be booked for DUI.

A few vehicles at a nearby car dealership were damaged from the water.

No further details were released.
