Stars Take Part In 'We Are All Uncool' Campaign Developed By KROQ's Nicole Alvarez, Photographer Tamar Levine

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — A new social media campaign that takes a stand against bullying is gaining traction among celebrities and musicians alike.

Tired of the toxic feedback posted on social media, the #WeAreAllUncool campaign was developed by Nicole Alvarez, a radio personality from CBS' sister station KROQ, and her friend, Tamar Levine.

"This developed from two girls that met on social media that are honest with each other. That wanted social media to be more a genuine and honest place for everybody," Alvarez told CBS2's Brittney Hopper.

As Hopper reports, the movement aims to encourage people to stop apologizing for who they are and embrace their authentic selves.

Many celebrities like Tony Hawk and Michelle Branch have already joined in.

"We have an opportunity to get to these kids and to let them know that they're OK, in fact, they're better than OK," said actor Ian Bohen from MTV's "Teen Wolf."

Bohen has 500,000 Instagram followers and knows all too well the struggles teenagers go through today on social media.

The campaign asks people to write "I Am Not Cool" on a piece of paper; take a selfie that's changed to black-and-white and post it on Instagram. Finally, include three things one normally would not post to social media.

"These public figures that they look up to maybe have the same insecurities as they do and because of that it's OK," Levine said.
