On December 1, 2014, a nine-mile stretch of the PCH was closed in both directions following rockslides and mudflows that left debris in the roadway in the wake of heavy rainfall.

Officials reopened the roadway at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.

Police clarified today's closure was not located within the previously closed roadway area.

It remains unclear how long the area will be shut down for, while crews work to make necessary repairs to the area.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday, officials announced that the PCH will remain closed through the evening. They planned to reassess in the morning.
