Man, 29, Arrested In Sexual Assault Of 14-Year-Old He Met On Facebook

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities have announced the arrest of a 29-year-old man they said sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

Officials said a victim reported the assault in May.

The teen said she met Daniel Gil, 29, of Ventura on Facebook and that he took her to his home, where he provided her with alcohol and drugs and then sexually assaulted her after she became intoxicated.

After an investigation, detectives served a search warrant in November on Gil's residence in the 2200 block of Fawn Avenue.

Gil was arrested Wednesday at the Ventura Police Department. He was later booked at the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of lewd conduct with a minor, luring a minor, sodomy of a minor and rape of a victim incapable of giving consent due to intoxication.

Ventura police detectives believe there may be additional victims.

The investigation is continuing.

The Ventura Police Department also seeks information on any additional reports of sexual misconduct by the Gil. Anyone with related information is urged to contact detective Cpl. David Ruggiero of the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4304.
