OC Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexually Assaulting Woman During Training Program Guise

LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday were seeking more potential victims of a suspect arrested for sexually assaulting a woman under the guise he was training her to use a medical device.

Raymond Newton Baker, 72, was arrested Feb. 19 after a three-week investigation for penetration with a foreign object and sexual battery, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

A 29-year-old woman told authorities that Baker assaulted her several times over a three month period.

She said Baker, the owner of Beautiful Image LLC in Laguna Nigel, committed the abuse while he was training her to use the "soon-to-be-patented" cosmetic "Micro Current" device.

"Baker claimed to the victim the device was designed to reduce age lines, cellulite and promote weight loss," Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

The victim said she met Baker through a Craigslist ad for the opening of a spa at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

"Baker paid the victim for each training period and later indicated he had changed the business name to 'Bio Nova LLC'," Hallock added.

During the investigation, detectives learned 18 other women also participated in Baker's training program.

He is currently free after posting $50,000 bail.

Anyone with additional information or believes they were a victim should call the OCSD's Special Victims Unit Sergeant Wade Walsvick at (714)647-7418 or (714)647-7000.
