Woman Arrested For Allegedly Murdering Husband In Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — A 26-year-old woman was in custody Monday for allegedly murdering her husband.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, detectives were sent on Feb. 3 to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of 34-year-old Johnson Dontong.

Officers from the Hawthorne Police Department originally responded to the residence, located in the 14000 block of Yukon Avenue, to perform a welfare check on Dontong.

When they arrived, they located him in the bedroom wrapped in blankets, and called detectives in for assistance in the investigation.

Two days later, Elizabeth Lemon, was arrested in connection to her husband's death.

Authorities ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo spoke with Kevin Tsobneng, who said his cousin was a noble and selfless man.

Tsobneng went on to share that Dontong was studying computer science at Santa Monica College, and worked as a limo and Uber driver to help support his family in Camaru.

A go fund me account was created to send Dontong's body home so that his ailing mother can see him for the last time.

Murder charges were filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office on Feb. 9.

Lemon is currently being held on $1 million at the Century Sheriff's Station.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at (323) 890-5500.
