Lawyer: Emile Hirsch In Rehab, Doesn't Remember Attack On Studio Executive

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An attorney for actor Emile Hirsch says the actor does not remember the night he is accused of attacking a studio executive because he was drunk.

Attorney Robert Offer wrote in a statement obtained Friday that Hirsch is taking the allegations seriously and is "devastated" about the charges. Offer states the actor is in a rehab facility for treatment for alcohol abuse.

The "Into the Wild" actor was charged in Utah Thursday with felony aggravated assault over an incident in which a studio executive accused Hirsch of placing her in a headlock and dragging her across a nightclub table in late January.

The 29-year-old actor is scheduled to make his first court appearance on March 16. Hirsch also faces a misdemeanor count of intoxication.

Hirsch is charged with attacking Daniele Bernfeld, an executive at Insurge Pictures, a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures.
