Canyon Country Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of Shooting Brother Dead, Injuring Father

CANYON COUNTRY (CBSLA.com) — Deputies were called to a community in Santa Clarita Sunday where a woman reportedly killed her brother and injured her father with a semi-automatic handgun.

Officials were called around 5:15 a.m. to an apartment in the 18000 block of Danielson Street, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds and a 25 year-old woman on scene, according to Deputies Amber Smith and Mike Barraza of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

The woman's 28-year-old brother was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Their 56-year-old father also was taken to a hospital for gunshot wounds and was expected to survive.

The woman surrendered to deputies and booked at the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station on suspicion of murder.

Officials have not released the identities of those involved.

Deputies are trying to determine what led up to the shooting.
