Hemet Man Killed By Boulder In San Jacinto Riverbed

SAN JACINTO (AP/CBSLA.com) — Officials say a Hemet man died after he was pinned under a boulder in the city of San Jacinto on Saturday afternoon.

The Riverside County corner identified the victim as Timothy McCann, 43, of Hemet.

The Riverside Press Enterprise reported that fire crews were dispatched shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday to a remote area to help the man.

CalFire spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman told the newspaper that the man and his wife had been digging for plastic bottles in a riverbed when he was hit by a falling boulder and pinned.

Fuhrman says the man died at the scene.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
