Abducted Palmdale Infant Found Safe, Father In Custody

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A 3-month-old girl abducted from Palmdale has been found safe in Bakersfield, and her father is in custody, authorities said Saturday morning.

The infant was inside a car late Friday morning when the father, Ellsworth Jerome Young, 28, punched the girl's mother in the eye, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The woman then ran into a check cashing business in the 800 block of East Palmdale Boulevard to escape from Young, and left her 3-month-old in the car. Young then drove away with the child, heading north.

Bakersfield police located Young at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a lieutenant at the sheriff's station in Palmdale. Further details were not immediately available.
