Help Needed To Identify Driver, Vehicle In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash On 605 Freeway

IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are need the public's help in identifying the driver and vehicle believed to be responsible for a fatal hit-and-run collision early Friday morning.

A 35-year-old West Covina man, who remains unidentified, was changing a tire on his Honda Accord at about 3:30 a.m. Friday along the right shoulder of the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, north of Lower Azusa Road, when he was struck by a high-profile vehicle, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The victim was propelled into the right lane of traffic, and the driver of the high-profile vehicle fled the scene, authorities said. The man, who is a John Doe pending a fingerprint analysis by the coroner, died at the scene.
