Report: Nearly Half The Murders In LA County For Past Decade Remain Unsolved
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nearly half the murders in LA County for the past decade have remained unsolved.
This was a finding in a report released Sunday by the Los Angeles News Group, LANG.
The report said that only 54 percent of homicides are solved here -- compared to 63 percent solved nationwide.
In the unsolved cases in LA County, 90 percent of the victims were male.
The paper said that blacks made up 34 percent of the murders between 2000 and 2010. Half of those murders were unsolved.
LANG also found that only six percent of murders involving whites remained unsolved.
Titled "Getting Away With Murder," the investigation (which took 18 months to complete) examined 11,244 murders between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2010.
