4 Sentenced For 2 Killings At Lancaster-Area Ranch

LANCASTER (AP) — A man who arranged to kill two people to take over a Southern California ranch has been sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole.

Nicolas Cordoba and two other men got life terms on Friday. A fourth man got 28 years to life.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say Cordoba was manager of a 200-acre alfalfa and pistachio ranch in the Lancaster area when he arranged to kill the owner, plastic surgeon Steve Kadivar, in 2006.

Kadivar was shot at the ranch. His unsuspecting family then leased the ranch to Cordoba.

Prosecutors say Cordoba convinced a friend, Soto Martines, to come in as partner. However, they had a falling out and in 2007 Cordoba arranged to have him shot at the ranch.
