Measles Outbreak Makes Way To Ventura County
CAMARILLO (CBSLA.com) — A measles outbreak that started at Disneyland in December has made its way to Ventura County.
Officials are warning anyone who has not been vaccinated and visited the Citibank at 430 Arneill Rd. in Camarillo between Jan. 12 and Jan. 14 may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease.
About 95 percent of the population is immune to the disease after receiving two MMR vaccines during childhood.
Those who have not been vaccinated and visited the Camarillo bank last week are at risk of developing the disease for up to 21 days following the exposure.
Symptoms include a cough, runny nose, reddened eyes, fever, a rash and tiny sores in the mouth. Those who develop any symptoms were asked to contact their physician and directed to request to go straight to a patient room as not to expose anyone in the waiting room.
In an attempt to contain the outbreak, health officials warned Thursday any child who has not been vaccinated should avoid major public places.
