Blowtorch-Wielding Robbery Suspect Linked To More Crimes In Carson, Long Beach

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of robbing a Glendale market by brandishing a blowtorch was already in custody for an unrelated crime, police said Friday.

Jermeile Hairston, 41, was taken into custody Monday by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies in Carson in connection with another robbery, the day before security images of the Glendale robbery were publicized.

The robbery happened 10:15 p.m. at the Gardenia Market and Deli, 4121 Pennsylvania Ave., Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot said.

Hairston has been arrested by Glendale police on suspicion of robbery and he is expected to be arraigned Friday, Lightfoot said.

Hairston is also suspected in a Long Beach robbery, with victims in all three cases identifying him as the suspect, Lightfoot said.
