3 Arrested In Tustin Home-Invasion Robbery

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Three people were arrested Thursday just after a home-invasion robbery of an 80-year-old woman in Tustin.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 14600 block of Peppertree Circle at about 12:30 p.m., police said.

The woman said she heard her doorbell ring, but did not answer it, Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright said. Moments later, she saw an intruder in her home, and the woman was ordered into another room where another robber was standing, he said.

The woman was tied up while the thieves rummaged through her belongings and ultimately stole her tan Lexus, Wright said.

The suspects fled the Lexus, and police were also looking for a dark-colored SUV that may have been involved in the crime, Wright said.

The woman sustained minor injuries from being tied up. The robbers apparently got into the home by prying open a sliding door, Wright said.

Just a few hours later, Los Angeles police contacted Tustin officers to say they had spotted the stolen vehicle and had three suspects in custody, Wright said.
