2 Arrested In Ventura Residential Burglary Investigation

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Two Ventura men accused of attempting to rob a home remained in custody on Thursday.

According to the Ventura Police Department, Luis Galvan, 20, and Pablo Peralta, 22, were taken into custody on charges for burglary, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

On Dec. 23, 2014, officers were sent around 1:47 a.m. to a residence in the 100 block of Via Baja for report of a possible residential burglary in progress, police explained.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Galvan and Peralta gained access to the back yard of the home after no one answered their knocks on the front door.

An 89-year-old victim woke when both men removed a bedroom window screen.

The victim proceeded to scream, which prompted Galvan and Peralta to flee on foot from the home.

Police explained they searched the area, but were unable to locate either suspect.

The victim provided police with surveillance video, which showed both men on the property.

Detectives explained they were able to identify Galvan, as they were familiar with him from previous burglary arrests.

He reportedly has ties with gang members on the west and east ends of the city, police added.

On Friday, officials learned Galvan was staying at a family member's home in the 4700 block of Rossini Lane.

When officers approached the home, Galvan and Peralta fled on foot. Galvan was located while attempting to hide in a nearby alcove and was subsequently arrested.

Authorities received information that Peralta lived in a different residence on Rossini Lane.

On Wednesday, police conducted a probation search, as he had search terms for stolen property.

An unregistered assault rifle, two shotguns, and a handgun were seized during the search, and Peralta was subsequently taken into custody.

Both men are being held in County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is urged to contact police at (805) 339-4325.
