Porter Ranch Man Charged In Dragging Of LAPD Officer

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —A Porter Ranch man accused of driving off with an undercover LAPD narcotics officer hanging onto the side of his SUV, which crashed in the Granada Hills area and injured the officer, was charged Tuesday with three felonies.

Grant Anthony Muldrow, 21, pleaded not guilty to one count each of assaulting a police officer, kidnapping and transportation for sale of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors say Muldrow was the driver of an SUV that took off when an LAPD narcotics officer tried to make an arrest on Jan. 15 in Granada Hills. While the officer kept his hand on the steering wheel, he was dragged along as the car reached speeds of up to 45 mph, Deputy District Attorney Garrett Dameron said.

Eventually the car crashed into a tree and a fence, and the suspect fled on foot. The officer suffered several broken bones, but remains in good condition.

Muldrow was taken into custody following an hours-long manhunt that prompted the lockdown of several schools.

Muldrow, who faces up to 13 years and eight months in state prison, is scheduled to return to court Feb. 10. He is being held at $235,000.
