Oxnard Man Hospitalized In Critical Condition Following Traffic Collision

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man remained hospitalized in critical condition Sunday following a traffic collision that occurred last night.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 11:43 p.m. Saturday to Victoria Avenue, just north of Doris Avenue, for report of an injury traffic collision involving two vehicles.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Erik Fenley, traveled northbound on Victoria Avenue from Doris Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Police said the vehicle rear-ended a black 2013 Toyota Corolla for an unknown reason.

The impact caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles, officers added.

Officials said Fenley was transported to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, for treatment of a skull fracture and significant trauma to his left hand. He remains listed in critical condition.

The other driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Police reported Fenley's blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit.

The investigation is ongoing.
