$1.9M Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Century City

CENTURY CITY (CBSLA.com) — There's a new hotspot amongst lottery players in Los Angeles.

Saturday night, a Powerball ticket successfully matched five of six numbers — 15, 27, 23, 36, 16, and Powerball number 9 — worth $1,995,993, California Lottery officials explained.

Authorities said the ticket was purchased at Century City 76 gas station, located at 10389 Santa Monica Boulevard.

Coincidentally, this location also sold a $30 million jackpot winning Mega Millions ticket in April 2014.

The owner of the gas station will receive a bonus check worth $9,980 or one half of one percent of the prize.

Lottery officials explained this check will be issued from a separate fund, and not subtracted from the jackpot total. This means the retailer will not have to wait for a winner to come forward before getting paid, and the winner will not have to share their prize earnings.

Since no one matched all six numbers in last nights drawing, the Powerball jackpot has been raised to $208 million for Wednesday's drawing.

Powerball is played in 43 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball starts at $40 million. The record Powerball jackpot reached $590 million in May 2013.
