Help Needed To Find Would-Be Kidnapper In Montebello

MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Friday to identify a man who tried to kidnap a woman in Montebello earlier this week.

The attempted kidnapping happened Monday at about 9 a.m., when a woman walking into her exterior laundry room was confronted by a man, Montebello police officials said.

Police say the man tried to grab the woman and pull her into the laundry room, but the woman turned and ran away.

The woman's husband was nearby at the time and saw the man run down his driveway and chased after him, police said. When the husband caught him in the street, they began fighting.

A second man ran over and punched the husband, and the two would-be kidnappers fled in an older model white 1995 or 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, police said.

Police say that, as the two men fled, they left "materials behind consistent with a kidnapping."

A description of the first kidnapper was not available, but the second was described a black man, about 6-foot-2, with a large muscular build wearing a mask, gloves and a dark-colored gray/black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about this case or the suspect can contact Montebello police Detective Zabala at (323) 887-1254.
