Only On 2: Agoura Hills Homeowner Worried About Mountain Lion That Killed 4 Family Goats

AGOURA HILLS (CBSLA.com) —  A homeowner in Agoura Hills is devising new ways to keep wildlife away from his residence after a mountain lion killed several of his goats.

The lion struck just after Christmas.

Marley and Maizley were two of the four goats killed.

CBS2's Andrea Fujii spoke to Cody Gill, the homeowner's son. It's a story that is Only On 2.

"We definitely played with them and butt heads with them; they were fun little goats," Gill said.

Gill said his parents' security camera captured the cat on their driveway just before the attack.

"He scoped all the way around and then probably smelled the goats over there and then made his way around the mountain to find the easiest way in," Gill said.

Bent chain links on the 6-foot high fence appear to be where the mountain lion got in.

The puma killed the goats and dragged one away.

"Three of them were laying there, and there was no blood or anything, but I guess it just held their windpipe until they died and left them there for later," Gill said.

The California Department of Fish and Game confirmed the mountain lion attack. The animal doesn't appear to be tagged.

Gill said his parents are concerned and taking precautions.

They're setting up spikes on fences around the property to discourage the lion from returning.

"My mom's devastated; she's here most of the time and takes care of the dogs and the cat," Gill said.

The family's other animals, including chickens, are now being kept indoors.

Gill said his father has a permit that will allow him to shoot and kill the mountain lion if it comes on their property again.

Wildlife officials told Fujii that because there hasn't been a recent sighting of the lion, it's likely that the animal has moved away from the area.
