Caught On Camera: Westside Restaurants, Beware The 'Tip Jar Bandit'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — She walks in to restaurants and helps herself to more than what's on the menu, dipping into the tip jar and walking away with the cash.

Businesses are calling her the "Tip Jar Bandit," and they're warning other West Los Angeles eateries to be on the lookout.

Security footage, now posted on YouTube, captured the woman in action.

The LA Weekly reports she's struck at least three times at various dining spots in the past week.

On one occasion, she got into an argument with an employee who accused her of stealing.

Witnesses say she talks on her cellphone and pretends to be checking out the menu before grabbing the money and leaving.

"As an employee here, we work for tips, so when people come in and steal from our tip jar it's really insulting to the work that we do," said Oliver Graham, an employee at Slicetruck Pizza, one of the restaurants which the bandit allegedly stole from.

The woman is said to be of Iranian descent, in her mid-20s and of medium build. She drives a white Infinity.

Anyone with information was asked to call police.
