Newbury Park Business Hit Twice By Suspected Serial Burglars

NEWBURY PARK (CBSLA.com) — Images have been released of three men suspected of burglarizing at least 15 businesses across Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties since October.

The latest incident happened this weekend in the 3100 block of Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park.

Police said it was there that the thieves smashed the windows of an optometry office early Sunday morning but left empty handed.

That was not the case, however, a few doors down at Mustang Marketing, where police said the same suspects made off with several computers in two separate incidents.

"They're so brazen, and they're efficient. They're in and out in 3-½ minutes," Scott Harris, the president of the marketing agency, told KCAL9's Peter Daut.

He said eight Apple computers were taken from the business Nov. 11.

Harris said he replaced the stolen computers and never expected the business would be burglarized again Nov. 24.

Harris said the total cost of the stolen items was roughly $100,000.

"They don't care about the impact that they have on people and their jobs and their careers. Their lives. Their sense of security," Harris said.

Investigators said the suspects have hit several of the businesses they've already stolen from, swiping the replacement computers.

The types of businesses being targeted vary.

"Real estate offices have been hit. Pet grooming places. Somehow they're able to locate the Apple computers and go after them," Ventura County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Jason Robarts said.

Meanwhile, Harris said the business has since installed new security equipment, including additional cameras.

If the thieves strike a third time, Harris said: "I just hope I'm here because that would be a very pleasant thing … because we're ready."

Once apprehended, investigators say, the suspects will be charged with multiple counts of felony commercial burglary.
