Man Killed, Bouncer Shot Outside LA Night Club

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police were on the scene of a deadly shooting Saturday that occurred outside of a night club in Inglewood.

According to the Inglewood Police Department, officers were sent around 2:00 a.m. to The Savoy Entertainment Center, located in the 200 block of South La Brea Avenue near Manchester Boulevard, for reports of gunfire in the area.

Once on scene, officers located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds outside of the night club.

One of the victims, described as a man working as a bouncer outside of the club, remains listed in stable, but critical condition.

The second victim, described as a patron, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities explained to KCAL9's Joy Benedict that dozens of people were outside when the shooting took place.

Benedict explained the patron approached the bouncer with a group of friends to gain access to the club, however, he did not have his license with him.

The bouncer allowed his friends to enter the club, but denied access to the man. He allegedly threatened the bouncer, and said he would return.

Shortly after leaving, the man returned with a gun, and fired several times at the bouncer.

Police were able to recover two weapons from the scene, however, it is unknown if both weapons belonged to the patron.

It remains unclear how the patron was fatally shot.

No other injuries were reported, and no other suspects are outstanding.

Around 7:30 a.m., authorities reopened La Brea Avenue and removed crime tape from the area.
