Woman Arrested In Placentia Hit-And-Run That Injured Child, 2

PLACENTIA (CBSLA.com) — Police in Placentia have announced the arrest of a driver they said injured a 2-year-old in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday evening.

Authorities said the child was struck around 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Gonzales Street.

Witnesses told officials that one tire rolled over the child.

The vehicle fled and was last seen going south on Gonzales Street.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark green or black Ford Explorer being driven by a woman.

The injured child was treated at the scene and later taken by paramedics to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

The child is expected to survive.

Officers went to the Garden Grove address where the vehicle was registered. The driver and vehicle were not located.

About 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a Placentia officer saw the woman driving  a green 2000 Ford Explorer in the 900 block of South Placentia Avenue.

The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested Stephanie Morales, 19, of Placentia. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.

Morales was booked at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
