5 Plead Not Guilty In Killing At Grand Terrace Roller Rink

SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Five people ranging in age from 15 to 20 have pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder after a New Year's Day shooting that killed a security guard at a Southern California roller rink.

The five appeared in court Wednesday in San Bernardino. They face murder, attempted murder and other charges with gang enhancements in connection with killing of 48-year-old Richard Williamson.

Authorities say Williamson was trying to protect people from a gunman who fired at a crowd outside the rink in the San Bernardino County city of Grand Terrace. Two other people were wounded.

The attack occurred as hundreds of people were celebrating the New Year at an all-night skate party.

The five, including three minors, face trial as adults.
