Inglewood High School Vandalized With Swastikas Over Holiday Break

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Students returned Monday to an Inglewood high school to find graffiti on campus and classrooms vandalized.

Swastikas and the letters "KKK" were spray painted on the exteriors walls of Morningside High School, Inglewood Unified School District leaders said.

Officials also said a building was broken into and classrooms were disturbed.

The district said schools had been vandalized over the holiday break in years past and were working to get the damage cleaned up.

A Morningside employee, who declined to be identified, said he has never seen vandalism this offensive.

"This time with 'KKK' and a swastika, I feel it has a racial overtone or message and I don't understand what that message will be," he said.

The State of California has been in control of Inglewood Unified since 2012 when the district fell into financial troubles.
