3 Men Sought For Kidnapping, Raping Teen Girl In La Puente

LA PUENTE (CBSLA.com) — San Gabriel Valley authorities are searching for three men who were reportedly involved in the kidnapping and rape of a 15-year-old girl walking on a residential street Saturday in La Puente.

Los Angeles County deputies said that around 6:30 p.m. the girl was walking home in the 600 block of Van Wig Avenue when three men driving slowly next to her parked their car ahead of where she was walking. Deputies said two of the suspects got out and grabbed her, pulling her into the car.

The abductors reportedly drove the girl to an unknown location and raped her. The attackers threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident, LA County sheriff's Sgt. Beamon said.

He said the girl was released in the same area where she was kidnapped.

On Sunday evening, KCAL9's Brittney Hopper said people in the neighborhood were shocked to hear about the incident.

"It doesn't make me feel good, that's for sure," said a woman who stood inside her doorway. "I'm not going to want to go outside now."

The kidnappers were described as two Latinos  in their late 20s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. Their 1990s black Honda Civic had a license plate with the first three digits possibly reading "2WE."

"The investigation is active at this time, and detectives from the special victims bureau are looking for any additional information which may lead them to the three suspects and the suspects' vehicle," said Deputy Amber Smith.

Neighbors said they're hoping the suspects are caught soon.

"They should do something more to get them, you know," a neighbor told Hopper. "You never know. What if they're doing it to another neighborhood?"

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's Industry Station at (626) 330-3322. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
