Police: Man Under The Influence Takes Stolen Rose Bowl Golf Cart For Joy Ride On 210 Freeway

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A man possibly under the influence allegedly nabbed a golf cart from the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day and drove it on the 210 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol say Andrew Aldridge, 20, of Dana Point was arrested at 10:47 p.m. near the Hill Street off-ramp on the eastbound side of the freeway.

The man had apparently just left the Rose Bowl football game, after the University of Oregon had just beat Florida State University, and was trying to reach his car on the other side of Pasadena, according to statements CHP Sgt. Mike Munoz made to the Los Angeles Times.

Officers responded after receiving a report of a golf cart being driven on the freeway near Lake Avenue. Another caller reported the cart had exited the freeway at Hill Street.

CHP say they found Aldridge and the cart nearby on Corson Street.

"They contacted the driver who was the sole occupant. The golf cart had Rose Bowl stickers on the side of it. The driver admitted to taking the golf cart from the Rose Bowl," according to a CHP statement.

Aldridge was arrested on suspicion of DUI  and booked at the Pasadena police station.
