Arrest Made In East Hollywood Transgender Killing

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the killing of a transgender woman in East Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Police Department said Monday that detectives with the Rampart Division have arrested one person and seeking two additional suspects in the Oct. 2 killing of Aniya Knee Parker, 47.

Parker was shot while walking in the area of Melrose and Kenmore avenues after she was confronted by three Latino men, authorities said.

Parker, described as a transgender woman, was taken to a hospital, where she died in surgery.

After the killing, a reward of $50,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects.

Detectives have not released the identity of the arrestee and said their investigation is continuing.
