Details Emerge After Man Shoots Wife During Christmas Party

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Officials are releasing more details about a man who allegedly shot his wife in the abdomen during a Christmas party at their Lancaster home.

Thomas Silas was arrested outside his home shortly after 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 2700 block of East Avenue J-4, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Miguel Ruiz of the Lancaster station.

Silas reportedly had been arguing with his wife about financial issues when he shot her with a handgun. The couple's adult daughter and other family members were in the home for a holiday party.

Deputies say when they arrived Silas was still holding the weapon, while standing in the front yard. He cooperated with them when ordered to drop the weapon.

The woman was taken to a hospital and said to have stable vital signs. Her current condition was not given.

Silas was transported to the Lancaster station jail and charged with attempted murder and domestic violence. He was being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
