Suspect Fatally Wounded In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Coachella
COACHELLA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a fight between a suspect and a Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy ended with the suspect being fatally shot in Coachella.
The deputy responded about 11:30 a.m. to a report of a suspicious man in the 83600 block of Shadowrock Drive, sheriff's Cpl. Robert Martinez said.
"Upon arrival, the deputy located the suspect and a physical altercation occurred," Martinez said. "Shortly thereafter, an officer-
involved shooting occurred."
The unidentified suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he died, authorities said.
The deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
