Detectives Seek Man Accused Of Assaulting, Robbing Ventura Woman

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A 25-year-old woman was recovering Thursday after being attacked and robbed by an armed suspect outside her home.

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers were sent around 2:10 a.m. to the 1100 block of Cypress Point Lane for report of a robbery.

Once on scene, police located the Ventura woman suffering from minor injuries, which did not require medical attention.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was walking away from her car, towards her home, when the suspect walked up behind her and demanded property, which startled her.

Authorities explained the victim proceeded to turn around, and saw the suspect holding a gun at her, demanding the box that she was carrying.

In fear for her safety, the victim complied with the suspects orders.

Officers said the suspect allegedly took the contents out of the box and began sorting through them.

When he finished, the suspect hit the victim in the face with a closed fist, and left most of her belongings behind. It was unclear what was actually stolen from the victim.

The victim called 911 after the suspect fled Northbound on Cypress Point Lane towards Telephone Road.

Detectives described the suspect as a man between the ages of 25 to 30-years-old that stands no taller than 5-foot-10. His race remains unknown at this time.

He was last seen wearing a gray long sleeve shirt with a black beanie and black gloves. Officers said he has a thin build.

Officers searched the surrounding area, but did not locate the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact police at (805) 339-4409.
