LAPD: Man Fatally Stabs Ex-Wife's Boyfriend In South LA Apartment

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested early Monday for the fatal stabbing of his ex-wife's new boyfriend in South LA, the LAPD said.

Police responded to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Figueroa Street around 2:30 a.m. after they received reports of a child screaming.

When officers arrived on scene, they were confronted by the 28-year-old suspect who had blood on him.

"The suspect then attempted to flee the scene. The officers then developed a quick tactical plan and took him into custody," Lt. Jeff Nolte said.

Authorities said the unidentified man got into an argument with his ex-wife's boyfriend and fatally stabbed him. The victim, 28, died at the scene.

The man's 23-year-old ex also suffered minor injuries in the attack and was taken to a local hospital.

Two children, under the age of 6, were inside the apartment at the time of the stabbing, but were not injured.

"Both children saw at least some portion of the event this morning," said Lt Nolte, who added that the siblings were in police custody.

Authorities were unclear as to what lead up to the argument.
