Firefighters Battle Apartment Blaze On Wilshire Corridor Near UCLA
WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A fire broke out a five-story apartment building in Westwood, prompting firefighters to evacuate residents.
The blaze ignited around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Wilshire Manor Apartments located at 10635 Wilshire Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Officials said someone with an unspecified injury was taken to a hospital.
A "handful" of residents were evacuated. Wilshire Boulevard has been closed between Manning and Westholme avenues.
Crews were able to knock down the fire by 9:40 p.m.
Investigators said the blaze originated with an electrical box.
The extent of the damage was not yet known.
