Detectives Seek Help Identifying Suspects Accused In LA Homicide

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public's help Friday in identifying two suspects accused of fatally shooting one man and seriously injured another last night.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent around 11:15 p.m. Thursday to the 1600 block of South VanNess Avenue for reports of shots fired.

Once on scene, officers located a victim on the sidewalk.

A preliminary investigation revealed the two victims were standing in front of an apartment complex when two male suspects allegedly approached them on foot and fired numerous shots, authorities explained.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews pronounced one of the victims dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Detectives described the suspects as two black males who wore black hoodies. They were last seen fleeing on foot from the scene.

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.

The motive for the fatal shooting remains unknown at this time.
