San Bernardino Man Identified In UPS Package Thefts; Remains At Large

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — A 40-year-old man was identified Monday as the suspect seen on surveillance video following UPS trucks and stealing packages left on porches of residences.

According to the Highland Police Department, Marcellus Carter of San Bernardino was identified by detectives after receiving suspect information related to the investigation.

A search warrant was conducted at his residence in the 200 block of West 17th Street. Carter was not home.

Detectives explained they believe he has been hiding in the area since seeing himself in the news. A previous booking photo was provided by officials.

Around 2:15 p.m. Nov. 18, Carter was seen following a UPS truck while the driver made deliveries in the 28000 block of Foxtail Way in East Highland.

The video shows him driving a newer model, maroon Nissan sedan, possibly an Altima or Maxima.

According to police, Carter took packages from the porches moments after the UPS driver left them at several residences.
