Truck Carrying Non-Profit Color Guard Team's Equipment Is Stolen

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — A non-profit color guard team was forced to practice their routine Sunday night without their equipment after their truck was stolen.

The U-Haul truck carrying thousands of dollars of equipment belonging to the Diamanté Winterguard was taken Friday morning while parked at the team captain's Monterey Park home.

"It's pretty devastating. Because we are a non-profit, we set-up a budget and everything to take care of all the things we need to but a hit like this can cause organizations to completely fold," said Brandi Ramirez, team's director.

Although determined to get the equipment back, the team in the meantime is forced to practice without it.

"It's heartbreaking because it has everything that we need," said Andrew Padilla, the team's captain.

Diamanté Winterguard competes all over the world as an independent color guard team but is based in Sante Fe Springs.

The group's next large-scale performance is scheduled for the beginning of January.
