Family Reunited With Dog After Groomer Mix-Up
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — When Nancy Smith drove up to Pet Partners on Tuesday she expected to find her freshly-groomed "Snowball" a changed dog.
Well, she was different all right – a completely different dog.
This Terrier mix had the same coloring, but she had a pinkish nose and this dog had a black one.
Smith, Celeste Bass and their daughter, Arianna, were shocked. This was the first grooming appointment for their white, fluffy dog, which they had rescued two weeks prior.
"We went to pick her up they said, 'She's not here. She was mistakenly given to somebody else. I'm sorry.' I just really couldn't believe you had no idea where my dog is," Bass said.
When Smith and Bass complained, the groomer tried calling the woman who walked off with Snowball.
Arianna said it was"pretty awkard" store employees knew they had given away Snowball before she and her family arrived to pick the dog up.
But they didn't hear back from her.
In a panic, Smith turned to Facebook. She posted what happened and her story was shared by pet lovers on the social media site.
Eventually, the woman who accidentally took Snowball contacted the groomer and returned the dog she mistook for her rescue dog. She admittedly was not that familiar with her pet.
Smith and her family say they're relieved to have their pooch back. They plan on getting the pooch, which they adopted two weeks ago, microchipped.
"I just know now that I'm never going to take my dog there again. As of now, we're just going to bathe her at home," Smith said.
CBS2/KCAL9 contacted Pet Partners, who confirmed Snowball was found but would offer no further comment.
